PREPARE YOUR TREES AND SHRUBS FOR WINTER

Fall is the time to prepare your trees and shrubs for winter so they stay alive through the harsh winter.

The following are some problems that can ultimately lead to the death of your trees and shrubs during winter if not addressed.

  • Lack of Nutrients – it’s been a long year for your trees and shrubs and their energy levels become depleted at the end of the year.  They spend the year growing leaves, pushing flowers, and fighting off pests, so they are tired and need nutrients so they can do it all over again.  The solution is a program that addresses nutrient replacement and that starts with a Fall Deep Root Fertilization.
  • Dead Wood – old dead limbs are future spots for fostering insects and disease. The solution is to prune these sections out so the tree or shrub can put its energy into strong living branches so as to maintain shape and health.
  • Dehydration – even in the winter trees and shrubs need water to survive.  Freezing Temperatures and Wind suck the moisture from the plants in the winter. If they have not received adequate hydration all year long and then go into the winter thirsty, there is good chance the plant dies. The solution is to deep water the plants before winter time with a hose.
  • Now is the time to schedule a deep root fertilization and a fall pruning on your trees and shrubs to prepare them for winter.
