WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? IT'S VOLE DAMAGE!

Have you seen this happen to your grass?

Underground tunnels in turf caused by vole damages

Chances are you have voles in your lawn!

Voles cause unsightly damage to your turf as it’s where they store their food of seeds and other plant matter in their underground chambers.

A vole is like a field mouse, and they will eat plants of all varieties, including turf and trees. In the past, Voles typically did most of their damage during the winter months while snow was on the ground. Over the last few years in the Treasure Valley, we have seen damage year round, due to the growth and development in the Valley. Voles now have no other place to go than the landscape around our homes.

The best defense against voles is strategically placing bait stations around your property. We can check these locked stations monthly or quarterly depending on infestation to ensure we fix the Vole problem, and your landscape stays looking its best.

If there is a lot of vole damage already in your lawn, we first need rake all the dead grass out. Once the dead grass is raked out you will want to have Green Services seed over the damaged areas. Then we’ll place the bait stations throughout your property so the Voles won’t eat the newly planted turf.

tree trunk has been damaged by vole

Not only do Voles cause damage to turf, but Voles can also cause major damage to your trees and shrubs too! Voles eat the roots, bark and vascular tissue on trees and shrubs, “girdling” the trunk of the plants. Check out the damage found below.

If you are concerned about voles or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out right away so we can get your grass back to top shape and protect your trees from deadly damage.
