The weather has been heating up over the past few weeks here in Boise and lawns are becoming extremely heat stressed, allowing weeds to take over. But don't worry, we can help revive your turf!
How to fix a heat stressed lawn:
- Water your lawn deeply and consistently! lots of water each cycle will stimulate new growth and activate nutrients.
- If you're not seeing improvements after 1-2 weeks of proper watering, we can revive your lawn using a wetting agent with natural fertilizer to improve water penetration and break up hard soil. This will help turn your lawn from brown to dark green!
How to protect your lawn from heat stress:
- Deep, consistent watering for deep root growth. The deeper your root system, the best chance your lawn has at avoiding heat stress. Heat dries the soil from the top, so you want roots to have made their way down in the soil by the time it gets hot.
- Proper Mowing. Mow at the correct height for your lawn and make sure your mower blades are sharp. A mowing height of 3-3.5 inches during summer months is ideal. As a general rule, never remove more than 1/3 of the leaf blade during any one mowing.
- Grasscycle. Leave your lawn clippings on your lawn after mowing to add extra nutrients back into soil.
-Proper Fertilization. Properly timed fertilizer applications will provide needed to nutrients for overall health and vigor of your turf.
